God has written His name on my heart

•June 3, 2014 • 1 Comment

Lately I have found myself more and more into what I want, into my responsibilities, and into what’s going on around me and less and less into the One who gives me strength. It has just snuck up on me, and I sometimes feel fear creep in on me. But God did put His seal on me, He did make me His, and He has given me the Holy Spirit to guide me and live inside me. No matter what, He’s got me.

I will not be ruled by the world; I will not be conformed to the patterns of this world. I will not be a plant that quickly sprouts then withers from the sun.

New Directions

It’s been quite a while since I last updated my blog, and that’s probably how it should be, considering that my life is somewhat private. But being private doesn’t mean I’m completely disappearing. So, I guess as some sort of online journal, blog, life-recording weirdness, I’ll rundown some of the more awesome things that have transpired over the last several ages:

  • Married my awesome wife, Lynlee Pointer
  • Started, and ended a job with an IT company
  • Started a great new job at a Christian Television station
  • Adopted a little grey kitten named Cleo
  • Lynlee and I have stepped into a leadership role in our youth group, doing our best to lead the junior high students in a worship band.
  • Become interested in responsible firearms ownership and the gun culture as a whole

We’re having a ton of fun, Lynlee and me, and we expect to keep having fun following the Lord’s direction (Psalm 23, i.e. paths of righteousness/ Proverbs 3:5-6 i.e. making our pathways straight).

More to the point of this blog post, at least it’s timing, we are attempting to invest in ourselves for the future (investing our time and resources so as to become more valuable as time goes by). So, to do this, we are investigating, pursuing, and devouring information on building websites. To test our new knowledge, we’ll be using this site as a guinea pig.

About to get married!

Just a quick update on my life: I have proposed to Lynlee and we are set to get married in almost exactly one month in Pineville, Louisiana. We have been very blessed, with a lot of love from both sides of the family helping to get the big day ready. I turned thirty, got engaged, started a new and awesome job, and I have moved into a new house; life is great! And for the record, God is blessing me up one side and down the other, and I definitely don’t deserve. The only thing I can say is that He loves me:P

Salvation Is A Setup

Rom. 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.

  • Simple
  • Effective
  • Filled with truth

It’s simple. To come to Jesus, when you are ready, confess Him Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved.

Does that sound too easy?

      It is easy.

The God that created the universe set forth a plan to bring us back into relationship with him.

You could say the reason it’s so easy to come to Jesus is that God set up your whole life just for this reason.

It’s a setup. That’s why it’s so easy. It’s simple; He’s laid out everything necessary for you, your only job is to make that choice.

He wants more than anything to have you back;

The cool thing is, He’s had all eternity to think about how He can get you back, and He actually has the power to put you in the right place at the right time.

What is Paul saying, really?

Paul is talking about the righteousness that is by faith, not by works; He is saying we no longer strive to live by the law, but by faith.

He’s reminding the mostly Jewish crowd, that simply following the rabbinical laws won’t get you to heaven. Doing righteous deeds won’t reconcile you to God.

He’s reminding the Gentiles, us, that we can do good deeds, we can try and be “good” people, but no matter how good we think we are, we are still not righteous.

Paul explains in the following verses that: Rom. 10:10-13 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
